36 Husbands is the 7th feature film from Bright Blue Gorilla. Shot in Australia, Italy, Germany, UK, France, and Los Angeles, it's truly an international picture. This comedy and spy-spoof was written & directed by Michael Glover, produced by Robyn Rosenkrantz. The film features the powerful talents of Christa Pasch, Roberta Bianchini, Nadine Nourney, and Dominic Anglim - with a wonderful supporting cast! (See all the actors and technicians on IMDB.)
The Story: Krista is an ex-spy, a mystic, and kung fu master - who has developed a new way to fight using her body's energy. While meditating, she has a vision of the start of World War III and decides to get back in the spy game. Together with fellow-spies Gina, Nola, and Frankie (the "token-male" on loan from MI6), they make it their business to confuse and disorient the men in the war-making racket: scientists, weapon-designers, politicians, and general-mischief-makers. Bright Blue Gorilla is central to the plot: the spies and bad guys always tune in to the BBG TV show. What makes them watch? Is it the music, the comedy, the dancing... or something else? Watch and find out!
REVIEW FROM FILM THREAT: “Does it make any sense to you?” a character in writer/ director Michael Glover’s 36 Husbands asks, reading a script. “We gotta talk to the writers. They’re making this weirder and weirder.” He may as well be referring to Glover’s insane little cinematic treat, a self-described “mystical, musical, Kung Fu spy comedy.” Ludicrous and hammy and proud of it, the ultra-low-budget movie certainly lives up to that description... All the leads do an admirable job navigating through the insanity. The clear stand-out is the androgynous Dominic Anglim, a lankier/taller, European version of Jane Lynch, whose comedic timing is impeccable. But the fact that the entire cast, along with the twisted script, kept my attention through 80+ minutes of clowning around is a testament to the power of well-made tomfoolery."
